WHITNEY PEYTON releases new single "Let Me In" Listen NOW!

Corey Taylor and Clown, together again, tease Slipknot stuff for 2019

What were you doing on 4/20? Bandmates Corey Taylor and M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan were busy teasing the internet with a (seemingly in-studio?) selfie on Slipknot's social media, the caption proudly proclaiming, "2019"—see it below.
We've steadily reported on Slipknot's long-standing plans to follow up 2014's .5: The Gray Chapter, and it seems like the gears are finally turning toward a new album in Knot-ville. Corey Taylor started writing lyrics, Crahan had a bunch of material demoed, and it was hinted that next year will be high time for their sixth studio effort. Are you ready for it?
As hardcore Maggots are aware, the aforementioned follows a period of confusion that saw Taylor admit he hadn't yet heard any new Slipknot demos. (Well, he was busy on the road with Stone Sour.) But, now—finally—we're getting some solid evidence of Taylor and Crahan (at least) being in the same room together: a dimly-lit Twitter pic of the two.
Looks like 2019's the year, folks. Stone Sour guitarist Josh Rand even confirmed Taylor's plans to prioritize Slipknot in the coming months. So, hey, hopefully we'll have a new Slipknot disc before the members' own kids release one...

Guitar Center loses $11 million, fires 100 employees

It looks like Guitar Center may be in trouble after reportedly losing $11 million from investors and being forced to layoff more than 100 corporate employees.
According to Gear Gods, the music retail chain was "forced to layoff 40 employees from their corporate headquarters," and a second wave of firings left 140 more without jobs, bringing the total to 180 laid-off corporate workers.
“One former employee who was part of this most recent round of layoffs and who spoke to Gear Gods on the condition of anonymity tells us that Guitar Center is now a ‘company run by non-music people,’ and that after the firings, our subsequent coverage, and Garland’s grim predictions, it’s a madhouse at their corporate HQ in Westlake. According to sources, ‘no one’s job is safe,’ not even some of the most senior people at the company. The first major firing of these was Gene Joly, the former president of Musicians Friend and well-respected music industry professional, who was let go two days before Christmas."
Looking at the Financial Industry Regulation Authority's data, Guitar Center's "secured bonds have also been tanking since last July and taking a pretty consistent hit each day." Investors have pulled $11 million out of the company already, and many others are looking to jump ship before it's too late.
As MetalSucks recently noted, Guitar Center accounts for 28 percent of musical instrument sales in the U.S. If the company goes down, it could be a huge hit to the music industry as we know it.
Do you think this is the end for Guitar Center? Let us know in the comments.

As previously reported, the cast will be adding three new characters this season along with an "alternative girl" character who we're stoked to meet. Cary Elwes will be playing the Hawkins mayor, a "handsome, slick and sleazy" '80s politician, and Jake Busey will be playing a local journalist with "questionable morals."
